Outreach Sandzak 2:
Countering extremist ideologies

Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia
organized a panel discussion with youth, whose topic was countering
extremist ideologies. After the lectures, 25 participants had the
opportunity to talk to local police about the influence of extremism on
the local community.
Historian Milivoj Beslin gave a lecture about
historical revisionism as the basis for extremist ideologies and
right-wing extremism among young people. President of the Sandzak
Committee for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, Semiha Kacar,
talked about human rights and tolerance in the local community.
Sociologist Srdjan Barisic gave a lecture about religious extremism and
right-wing ideologies.
Panel discussion is part of the project supported by
the US Embassy and implemented by HCHRS and Novi Pazar Youth Group of
HCHRS. After the panel discussion, participants will organize a public
event which will create opportunity for dialogue on anti-extremist
themes. In addition to Novi Pazar, panel discussions will also be
organized in Prijepolje, Sjenica and Tutin.
