Contemporary Serbian Identity in the 21st Century

The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia held the third seminar youth seminar “How is Serb Identity Being Formed Today?” The seminar was organized in Media & Reform Center in Niš. Participants in the seminar were university students and the youth active in the human rights field.

Sociologist Đokica Jovanović spoke about culture as creator, actor and participant in the forming of national identity, while sociologist Srđan Barišić talked about Serb identity in the context of the church and right-wing movements. Former ambassador of Serbia to Russia spoke about the relations of Serbia and Russia in the past and in the contemporary context.
