Tabloids and the President Endanger the Safety of Rada Trajkovic

Belgrade, April 19, 2019

A variety of speculations about Rada Trajkovic’s testimony in the case of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic run by pro-regime tabloids Informer and Alo, as well as the statement by Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic practically stand for a threatening lynch call against Rada Trajovic’s safety. Besides, stories as such exemplify a brutal assault against her person and integrity.

Ever since the murder of Oliver Ivanovic President Vucic has been meddling with investigation in the case by amnestying well in advance some of his closest associates such as Milan Radoicic.

Just remind his claiming that “witness Rada Trajkovic testified, among other things, that she had been in touch with late Oliver Ivanovic all the time, and that Oliver had been under permanent surveillance and wiretapping of professional services, especially those of the state of Serbia,” and remarking, “You see now what a liar that woman is.”

When Kosovo’s Special Prosecutor requested that Nedeljko Spasojevic and Marko Risic, arrested on November 23 as suspects involved in the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, should be kept in custody until further notice, tabloids Informer and Alo brought his motion into connection with Rada Trajkovic’s testimony. They actually suggested that Rada Trajkovic, as Alo put it, “told Shiptar investigators that Oliver Ivanovic had been under surveillance of secret services of the Republic of Serbia, but offered no argument for or a proof of her claim.” Alo also argued that “without giving any proof, Rada Trajkovic said that Milan Radoicic and his accomplices from Serbia” were involved in the murder of Oliver Ivanovic. Informer accused Rada Trajkovic straight in a banner saying, “SCANDALOUS! Rada Trajkovic Falsely Accused Serbs of the Murder of Oliver Ivanovic in Her Testimony before a Shiptar Prosecutor.”
