CONFLICT IN NUMBERS: DEMOGRAPHIC EXPERT REPORTS
FROM ITCY TRIALS IN A BOOK

The Helsinki Committee has published an impressive book "Conflict in Numbers: Casualties of the 1990s Wars in the former Yugoslavia, 1991-1999". The book - printed in Serbo-Croat-Bosnian and in English - contains a selection of the demographic expert reports used by the Prosecution in ICTY trials. The reports were selected by Ewe Tableau, the head of the Demographic Unit in the Office of the Prosecutor of ICTY and the Prosecution expert witness on demographics, who also wrote an introductory chapter addressing, among other things, the sources discussed and their historical value, legal rules that made it possible to present these reports in ICTY cases, etc. Project activities include launches of the edition in Belgrade, Zagreb and Prishtina with participation of international and domestic keynote speakers.
