COMING TO GRIPS WITH SERBIA'S EVER-PRESENT
IDEOLOGICAL MATRIX II

In its publishing activity the Helsinki Committee continues to encourage critical re-examination of nationalistic agendas and historical revisionism. Project activities include production of two volumes by historian Olivera Milosavljevic - "Contemporaries of Fascism: Perception of Fascism in Belgrade Public in 1933-41"and "Contemporaries of Fascism: Yugoslavia and Perceptions of Fascism in 1933-41." In the first volume Ms. Milosavljevic analyses positions on fascism by Serbian intellectuals as presented in their works and the media from 1933 to 1941. She explores the extent to which the Belgrade public of the time was aware of the phenomenon of fascism and the manner in which fascism was treated. In the second volume, Ms. Milosavljevic analyses the attitudes of the adherents of the above-mentioned currents towards emergence of fascism and racism in the then Yugoslavia, as well as the country's position and role at the break of the war in Europe.
